Eryri is an effortlessly beautiful Junior Suite located on the top floor of the house with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and rafters, with delightful views across our historic formal gardens and the surrounding woodland. Spacious yet cosy, and decorated in soft pinks, reds, blues and greens, this room is delightfully romantic. The bedroom is filled with characterful details and a large super-king bed, while the bathroom is the perfect pampering space, with a sumptuous double-ended cast iron bath and separate monsoon walk-in shower. Recently refurbished to the very highest standards, the space has been designed for you to truly relax, cocooned in delicious colours, traditional fabrics, beautiful handmade rugs, and antiques.
This suite is named after the region we proudly call our home, Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

The suite is named after the last true prince of Wales, ‘Llywelyn ein Llyw Olaf’ (Llywelyn the Last), the last native and independent Prince of Wales, who was born in Gwynedd.

This suite has been recently refurbished to the very highest standards, incorporating glorious traditional wallpapers and fabrics, beautiful handmade rugs, and antiques, to create a perfect cosy retreat at the top of the house.
Carreg is the Welsh word for stone, and this room is named after the pile of stones that mark the summit on top of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdonia). Legend says that under the pile of stones lies the body of fearsome giant Rhitta, who was slain and buried there by King Arthur after a fearsome battle.

This room is named after the highest mountain in Wales – Yr Wyddfa. It’s the Welsh word for Snowdon and means “the tumulus” or “the barrow”, which may refer to the cairn thrown over the legendary giant Rhitta Gawr, after his defeat by King Arthur.

A bright and spacious bedroom with an original antique fireplace with Delft tile surround. It benefits from seating in the window with views of our glorious historic formal garden at the front of the house along with the surrounding woodland. It has a generous bathroom with a bath and shower over.

This room is named after Branwen, a beautiful Welsh princess in one of the primary legends of the “Mabinogi,” tales from medieval Welsh literature. Branwen translates to “blessed fair raven,” and the story tells of her marriage to the king of Ireland. The marriage forged an alliance between the two nations, but the tale ends in a mutually destructive war between the two after she is mistreated and her brother, high King of Britain, sailed from his home in Harlech with his army to fight for her.

Our master bedroom has spectacular double-aspect views of the Mawddach Estuary and the formal gardens at the front of the house. It has a spacious bathroom with a corner Jacuzzi bath, walk-in shower and a ‘seat with a view.’
The room is named in honour of Cadair Idris, the mountain that sits above our hotel. The name translates to ‘Idris’ Chair’, and the mountain is one of the most recognisable shaped mountains in Wales. Idris was a giant, who is said to have used the mountain as his throne. Those who dare climb the mountain and sleep there, will apparently either lose their mind, or never wake up again!

An impressive junior suite with a four-poster and the original antique fireplace. This room boasts a huge picture window to our historic formal gardens at the front of the house, as well as a charming small balcony that overlooks the pretty rear gardens and surrounding woodland. The light and airy bathroom has a jazuzzi bath and shower over.

This room takes its name from the legend of Rhys and Meinir, and their love story set in Nant Gwythern in Gwynedd. On their wedding day, Meinir followed tradition and hid from the guests, however she couldn’t be found. Rhys’ search lasted months, until one stormy night lightning split the oak tree he sat under to reveal Meinir’s skeleton in her wedding dress, and Rhys died of a broken heart where he stood. Visitors have allegedly seen two ghosts moving hand in hand on the beach – a man and a woman – ghosts of the two lovers who remain devoted to one another.

A cosy room with a galley bathroom in the centre of the house. Please note that this room has a large window with a restricted view to the countryside. This room is named after Owain Glyndŵr, a Welsh leader who led a fierce and long-running war of independence with the aim of ending English rule in Wales during the Late Middle Ages. He formed the first Senedd (Welsh Parliament), and he was the last native-born Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales. He was also a descendant of Llywelyn the Great. Harlech Castle, a short drive away, was his home.

This room is named after nearby lake in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, and it’s one of the rumoured “Excalibur lakes” that claim to contain Arthur’s magical sword, Excalibur.

A beautiful local lake lends its name to this room. The lake is on the northern slopes of Cadair Idris, some 800ft. above sea level.

Derwen is the Welsh word for “oak,” and this room name is inspired by the oak tree in Nant Gwythern, the setting for the Rhys & Meinir love story, an hour away from Dolgellau.

A spacious room with french doors leading out to a balcony with wonderful views across the Mawddach Estuary and the mountains beyond. This bedroom has a modernised bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower. “Meirionnydd” is the old county name for Gwynedd, Meirionnydd was a sub-kingdom of Gwynedd, founded according to legend by Meirion. The kingdom lay between the River Mawddach and the River Dovey, spreading in a north-easterly direction.
