Spacious yet cosy, and decorated in soft pinks, reds, blues and greens, this room is delightfully romantic. The bedroom is filled with characterful details and a large super-king bed, while the bathroom is the perfect pampering space, with a sumptuous double-ended cast iron bath and separate monsoon walk-in shower. Recently refurbished to the very highest standards, the space has been designed for you to truly relax, cocooned in delicious colours, traditional fabrics, beautiful handmade rugs, and antiques.
This suite is named after the region we proudly call our home, Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

The suite is named after the last true prince of Wales, ‘Llywelyn ein Llyw Olaf’ (Llywelyn the Last), the last native and independent Prince of Wales, who was born in Gwynedd.

This suite has been recently refurbished to the very highest standards, incorporating glorious traditional wallpapers and fabrics, beautiful handmade rugs, and antiques, to create a perfect cosy retreat at the top of the house.
Carreg is the Welsh word for stone, and this room is named after the pile of stones that mark the summit on top of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdonia). Legend says that under the pile of stones lies the body of fearsome giant Rhitta, who was slain and buried there by King Arthur after a fearsome battle.

This room is named after Yr Wyddfa, the highest mountain in Wales. The Welsh name for Snowdon, it means “the tumulus” or “the barrow”, believed to refer to the cairn said to cover the giant Rhitta Gawr, who was defeated by King Arthur in legend.

Branwen is a recently refurbished, bright and spacious bedroom, featuring an original antique fireplace with a Delft tile surround. There’s a cosy window seat offering views across the glorious historic formal gardens at the front of the house and the surrounding woodland. The generous bathroom includes a roll-top bath and a separate monsoon shower room.

This room is named after Branwen, a beautiful Welsh princess from one of the central legends of the Mabinogi, the medieval Welsh literary tales. Branwen translates to “blessed fair raven”, and her story tells of a marriage to the king of Ireland that began in hope but ended in a tragic, mutually destructive war. When Branwen was mistreated, her brother, the High King of Britain, sailed from his home in Harlech with his army to fight for her.

Idris has been recently refurbished and offers spectacular double-aspect views across the Mawddach Estuary and the formal gardens at the front of the house. The elegant, updated space includes a spacious bathroom with a roll-top bath, monsoon shower, and a ‘seat with a view’.

The room is named in honour of Cadair Idris, the mountain that rises above our hotel. The name translates to ‘Idris’ Chair’, and the mountain is one of the most recognisable in Wales. Idris was a giant said to have used the mountain as his throne. Legend has it that those who climb the mountain and sleep there will either lose their mind or never wake up again.

Rhys & Meinir is a recently refurbished and impressive junior suite, featuring a striking four-poster bed and a huge picture window overlooking the historic formal gardens at the front of the house. The light and airy bathroom includes a roll-top bath and a separate monsoon shower.

The room takes its name from the legend of Rhys and Meinir, a tragic love story set in Nant Gwythern, Gwynedd. On their wedding day, Meinir followed tradition and hid from the guests, only to never be found. Rhys searched for months, until one stormy night, lightning split the oak tree he sat beneath to reveal Meinir’s skeleton in her wedding dress. Rhys is said to have died of a broken heart where he stood. Some say the spirits of the lovers still walk hand in hand along the beach, bound by love even in death.

A cosy room with a galley bathroom in the centre of the house. Please note that this room has a large window with a restricted view to the countryside. This room is named after Owain Glyndŵr, a Welsh leader who led a fierce and long-running war of independence with the aim of ending English rule in Wales during the Late Middle Ages. He formed the first Senedd (Welsh Parliament), and he was the last native-born Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales. He was also a descendant of Llywelyn the Great. Harlech Castle, a short drive away, was his home.

This room is named after nearby lake in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, and it’s one of the rumoured “Excalibur lakes” that claim to contain Arthur’s magical sword, Excalibur.

Our largest and most spacious suite, Rhiannon is a beautiful retreat made for lingering a little longer. Looking out across the hills and lake beyond, it’s a space that feels deeply peaceful, where the changing light and landscape become part of the experience of staying here.

At its centre sits a striking four-poster super king-sized bed, alongside a generous dressing area and luxurious bathroom with a freestanding bath and large separate shower. Rich textures, layered fabrics and thoughtful details bring warmth and softness throughout, creating a suite that feels both elegant and wonderfully restful.

A beautiful local lake lends its name to this room. The lake is on the northern slopes of Cadair Idris, some 800ft. above sea level.

Derwen is the Welsh word for “oak”, and this room is named after the oak tree in Nant Gwythern, the setting of the Rhys & Meinir love story, located just an hour from Dolgellau.

A spacious room with french doors leading out to a balcony with wonderful views across the Mawddach Estuary and the mountains beyond. This bedroom has a modernised bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower. “Meirionnydd” is the old county name for Gwynedd, Meirionnydd was a sub-kingdom of Gwynedd, founded according to legend by Meirion. The kingdom lay between the River Mawddach and the River Dovey, spreading in a north-easterly direction.
