We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news from the Penmaenuchaf team: our very own waiter, Jack Williams, has done something truly remarkable.
Earlier this year, Jack entered the prestigious Young Chef Young Waiter competition (YCYW) — an international celebration of rising stars in hospitality. After impressing judges with his professionalism, knowledge and abilities, Jack was named national winner for Wales, earning the honour of representing his country on the world stage at the 2024 Young Chef Young Waiter World Finals in Singapore.
Flying the flag for Wales
Alongside chef Alex Dunham from The Whitebrook and mixologist James Borley from The Dead Canary, Jack travelled to Singapore this November as part of Team Wales. Together, they faced off against the world’s most promising young hospitality professionals, showcasing not only their individual talents but also the passion, dedication and excellence that define the Welsh hospitality scene.
A podium finish on the global stage
We’re over the moon to announce that Team Wales finished 3rd in the world! This is a phenomenal achievement that reflects their hard work, creativity, and composure under pressure. This marks the third consecutive year Wales has placed in the top three globally, and we couldn’t be prouder to have played a small part in that story.
A star on the rise
Jack has only been with us at Penmaenuchaf for a short time, but in that time he’s made a huge impression with our team, guests, and now, with the world. His achievement is a testament to his character, professionalism and unwavering dedication to his craft.
We know this is just the beginning of an exciting journey for Jack, and we can’t wait to see where his talents will take him next.
Llongyfarchiadau mawr iawn, Jack, from all of us at Penmaenuchaf. You’ve done us, and Wales, immensely proud.
